Know your resume / accomplishments. Practice communicating them in a structured storyline eg STAR method. Take pauses. Slow down. Breathe. Remember you’re talking to just a person or people, not titles.
Pause baby. Answer the question via star and stop. If you didnt provide enough in your answer the interviewer will likely prompt you to expand. Additionally try using ChatGPT, grok, or whatever ai you use to conquer this. Go into voice mode and tell it to interview you as a shrewd SM who doesn’t like fluff. Tell it you have a propensity to ramble and it will give you pointers that are judgement and embarrassment free 🔑
Rising Star
Film yourself giving answers (like summarising your CV or to typical questions). You’ll be able to see where you spend ages wasting time. You should be able to answer each but question in about 60-90 seconds.
To quote the legendary Allen Iverson “we talkin’ ‘bout practice!”
Agree with the points about the more you have answers to typical questions freshen your mind. The more relaxed you will be.
Prep prep prep. Make sure you have clear talking points and a smooth story for how you got to where you got.
Also: resist the urge to start talking instantly after a question is asked. Give yourself a tiny bit of time and lead with the main response before expanding
Remember that you're also interviewing them and sometimes they are also nervous. Also if you catch yourself rambling you can say, "I'm rambling because I'm a little nervous. You're organization really inspires me. Or the role really excites me " That candidness goes a long way.
