First bit of advice I can give you is to delete reddit and never go back. Can’t really help you with the above question though.
My best friend told me the same haha.
I actually primarily use it for a support group that I can't find elsewhere (for a chronic illness that not many doctors know of) but occasionally pop into the accounting threads for advice.
PA will always be long and crazy hours. And they might have told you remote now, but that could change. I had a similar arrangement in PA that was remote then they wanted 3-4x and by the time I left it was full time back in office. I interviews at another big 4 for a remote job and by the end of interview process, they said I’d need to come in 1-2x per week.
That commute sounds awful, so both these options don’t really sound the best, but you seem to be leaning towards A. I was in PA for 6.5 years and it was great experience, but you will work A LOT
Thank you for the tips and advice!
I had a fully remote PA firm's before that stayed remote and A seemed proud of being fully cloud accounting so I'm hoping it won't happen.
I know the hours are rough. It was rough back then too, but I figured that my most recent awful job had me hybrid (1 hr commute) and I worked until 11pm (outside of close) anyway.
My resume is a mess of short tenures. I hope A is are not SO bad and I can weather it out for 2-3 years, patch my resume's reputation of being a hopper, and then leave again. Wish me luck 🥹
I don’t understand what you are asking? If you don’t want to work for company B just tell them you are not interested
(Sorry had to edit because I realized I couldn't squeeze in the question but then didn't want to add a second comment either haha).
B is actually also end stage. Their hybrid model is the only major bad thing. I negotiated to see if 2x a week was possible so if they extended an offer with 2x model, I'm happy to accept. Seeing as B and A are at the same end stages...I guess I wanted to compared the two offers if possible. I just don't know how to write that to the recruiter...
What is end stage? Still dont understand what youre asking. If you like B but not the in office reauirement just tell them that and see if they will agree to less days in. No need to complicate things.
End stage meaning the last step (assessment) has been sent. It's all they need left from the candidates before making their decision.
But thank you, I'll do just that!
I would let B know you have a fully remote position but are still considering and if they can work with you, but you also have to be open to B not being happy and not extending the offer. Double edged sword
