First, read the room. If they are politically supported, tread lightly.”
Maybe a casual conversation to get to know them and their thought process. Try to gain their trust and show them what you are seeing from your perspective.
If things do not improve, maybe consider asking their leader for support. But definitely tread lightly…
Ultimately, if they are in a position of authority, it is going to be an uphill battle. And one that you may end up frustrated and unsuccessful in steering. Keep calm and try to build more bridges than you burn.
I hate to agree but honestly, you are so right. If they have that much power and support sometimes the best thing you can do is tread lightly. Those types of people will have you out of there before you can get them out of there.
The best move is to diplomatically plant thoughtful questions and data-backed ideas without directly / challenging authority. Get others to see the other side without forcing it on them. Sometimes, influence means steering the ship quietly, not shouting from the bow.
Interesting situation. If you can’t win out in a battle of ideas and reasoning chances are you are misjudging yourself. People in Comms listen and should be able to judge on a professional basis and look past the smoke and mirrors.
