Day rate / 8 hours
Don’t bother - it makes your life way more complicated stick to the day rate unless you have multiple clients who can work on an hourly schedule. It’s your job to ensure a full days work and hourly rate is counter to that.
I agree with both answers. As a creative I’d suggest not offering up hourly unless it’s for consultation of some sort. I think for media & strategy hourly rates make sense because it’s an opportunity to provide consultation at a high level that could lead to a bigger gig. I’m not a creative, but I imagine that sort of scenario exists less often and then you are more likely to get squeezed from ever getting a day rate. Don’t see it as fair to hire someone and ask them to write copy for an hour
