How do you decide whether to stay in a private bank role in the US with a $225K salary or move to a firm like Morgan Stanley or UBS, where you can own your book but forgo a base salary?

My book generates around $1M in annual revenue, but we’re heavily micromanaged—call logs are recorded, meetings are tracked, and we’re expected to hit annual goals. The idea of owning my book and gaining more freedom is incredibly appealing, but leaving behind a solid salary scares me!

I did exactly that 11 years ago. I was an investor head and worked at the GIO desk, but I wanted to own my own book, and made the move. Best thing I never did professionally.

You bring 1M yearly. You can do it. Just trust yourself. Choosing your own book, you can do better. and rewards will follow.

Much lower risk if you already have some clients you can bring along. But private banks have super strong non competes and they are the banks clients and they will TRO and sue you in a heartbeat.

It’s scary. To work as a financial advisor?

Be careful as you step. That is solid pay you could come to miss. Those clients may be tied to the bank and may not leave with you. Be careful. Do you have trading skills? That could make up for the lost income whilst you are waiting for a pickup in business.

I once left this kind of role because the environment was toxic really and as i was waiting, i fell into trading. That brought in much more than financial advisory. I have been trading CFDs ever since.

What should be the salary for Frontend developer/angular with 2+ years of exp in EY ?

Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.

How hard is everyone pushing their corporate clients to authorize nonresident assignees whose only 2020 US compensation was the value of their 2019 tax preparation?
My clients are pushing back on it this year, and I can't say I blame them. If I were in their shoes, I'd rather take the risk of not filing than the expense of filing again. From my own point of view, I don't really want to spend my time on such returns, either, even if the revenue and easy return are nice.

Hey guys, so I have competing offers. One at Bank of America for 124, and one at Allspring for 110.

Does anybody work at Allspring? They did not provide any information regarding benefits, 401k match, or any annual bonus structure. I was told, verbally, that the Bank of America bonus is something like 15 to 20%, but nothing in writing.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about compensation structure at Allspring, or any opinions on the culture there. I would be in Charlotte.
