Current salary isn’t usually and shouldn’t be a question. Let the recruiter bring up comp and then lay out the range you want and be able to back it up if you have to. Doesn’t need to be this big mystery. Lay it out confidently and then stop talking.
Recruiter asked me for the expectation to which I replied obviously I want million dollar but that is not realistic thus I would like to know the range of salary for this role. Recruiter replied, we will do that fitment interview and see where and how you fit in and that will be the driver for your salary. There has been couple of interviews since then but we have not spoken about neither my fitment nor the salary range.
Ask recruiter what the salary band is for the position.
The recruiter is not going to be the expert here. You DO have to go through an interview process so can determine your skills commensurate to the existing employers at various levels. Most of the candidates will hold onto the salaries given by a recruiter, but your skills may only reflect a lower level. It happens more often than you can imagine
Why u gotta tag everyone bro
To increase reach and visibility…… earlier posts got lost in the heap of FB cringe 🥸🥸
In the US recruiters can’t ask past salary since it’s no longer legal to ask. If they do, that tells you a lot about their company culture…
Thanks ACN - that’s what I thought
Recruiters are now asking ranges or expectations as a required field in forms. Be prepared to give a range for salary or total comp...
wtfff.??? i wouldn’t proceed unless you love the role. they could lowball you in the end.
the only time salary was not discussed during my interviews was when i KNEW the company paid really well so i wasn’t concerned
Why is BCG tagged. Their pay is pretty transparent. The recruiter even shares it upfront. Actual compensation is not really something you can negotiate.
Just say you’ve done your research and don’t want anything outside of normal market ranges. Don’t admit a range early.
Recruiter in my experience lately drop the salary range first
I believe recruiters will not disclose salary until you officially apply and go through their process.
you are correct because they can not be certain if your skills are up to par with the role. When I spent 10 years in the Big 4- Many of the other Big 4 competitors we didn't hire after they went through the full interview process
Move to CO. Recruiter will be legally obligated to tell you the range for every position, and you can ask every year too.
Saw that. Pretty wild. When the role says 1-2 years experience for a manufacturing role I’m pretty sure it’s not paying 300k, but I sure hope it’s also not paying $30. Legitimately saw that. Another example of a not thoroughly thought out law that people think will help. I think a 20% range requirement would be reasonable. Say a $50k-60k salary range or a $100-120k range. Both seem like reasonable adjustment ranges
Share with them your expectations not actuals…they are calling you.
Was weird when PWC gave big raise this year a week before I told someone a range that wasn’t really worth it after I got bumped up 25%
So I was like hey my new salary is this so I’m not leaving unless you get me Y
