How do you feel about your company’s retirement benefits in the insurance industry? We talk a lot about health, PTO, and flexibility, but retirement is often overlooked even though it may be one of the largest financial benefits over time. Does your company offer strong matching, pension options, or access to planning tools? Do you feel confident you’ll be able to retire comfortably on what’s offered, or do you think the industry could do better?

HIG 6% match 2% auto. Vesting schedule is great. The payments are made every pay check. It’s instrumental to my financial goals. Most places my friends work are doing 3%

Most large insurance companies offer a match of 3-5%. Pensions are still available at some companies.

HNY all! I have multiple rollover and traditional IRAs, as well as a solo 401k. But (since I started paying attention to this kind of thing) have always been over the income limit to start a Roth IRA. I’ve also not done much contributing in the last few years due to purchasing an apartment and saving for renovations. Cue pandemic joblessness... if married filing separately, would you say it’s a good idea to start a Roth while under the income limit, even in this climate? Any reason not to?

Is anyone else experiencing this in their market?

Anyone out there who left their previous job for a new one have any advice or life experience to share? I’ve been thinking about it for months but currently feel comfortable in my job/the products I work on. I’d say I have a great work/life balance but I do know that I could be making 20-30% more and have better benefits if I left. I also feel a bit stagnant in my job but the job security has kept me put. Would love to hear if leaving a comfortable job for more money is always worth it.

Luggage delay claim question

I used Chase explorer to buy tickets for my vacation and luggages were delayed for a month. Per chase term I am entitled $100 a day for 3 days. But the claim agency chase used has been asking for airlines response, which has not came (2month+ now). I am concerned insurance will use this as an excuse to never compensate. Is there a good way to handle this situation?
TIA

Third question: I’m new in the DC area, are PDMs invited to firm socials? Trying to make friends! Thanks in advance

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

Went for a pre-employment drug test yesterday. They never asked me if I was on any medications. I had to ask them and was told "oh yeah, just put any you may think make a difference in this text box." I put Xanax, Flexeril, and gabapentin. All of which are prescribed and used as directed. Now I'm terrified that I should have put ALL my meds, to including my psych meds. I've been sober over 12 years and never touched drugs (just booze) but I'm having a full blown panic attack.

Why are you even organizing it? You think people would come from far places just for lunch?
