From watching lots of YouTube videos, the consensus is that this question entails a brief summary of your career, your achievement and growth along the way, and finally why you are looking and interested in this position (this is where you convey your excitement and you can do it). Seemingly such a simple question. But one so easy to mess up.
I start with my professional experience: here’s what I’m doing now, and a bit of my background with a few key accomplishments. And I always throw in a line or two about me as a person, beyond my professional qualifications.
Practice in advance so you know your talking points. That helps me avoid accidentally rambling.
Build a simple but earnest story about yourself. Where you grew up, what you liked to do, how you ended up where you are. Be authentic and it will show.
Just run with it. Your personal life would have to be serious red flags for it to matter.
Like I don't care if you spend your nights eating oreos in bed instead of side hustling. Good for you.
But if you're like a radical fighting fish enthusiast with a room dedicated to your vintage codpiece collection that's gonna be a no from me dawg.
