How do you go about answering the inevitable interview question, “can you tell me about yourself?” I find myself struggling to strike the right balance between brevity and over explaining. Thanks!

From watching lots of YouTube videos, the consensus is that this question entails a brief summary of your career, your achievement and growth along the way, and finally why you are looking and interested in this position (this is where you convey your excitement and you can do it). I got a job offer within 2 weeks. Good luck to you!:)

Seemingly such a simple question. But one so easy to mess up.

I start with my professional experience: here’s what I’m doing now, and a bit of my background with a few key accomplishments. And I always throw in a line or two about me as a person, beyond my professional qualifications.

Practice in advance so you know your talking points. That helps me avoid accidentally rambling.

Build a simple but earnest story about yourself. Where you grew up, what you liked to do, how you ended up where you are. Be authentic and it will show.

Just run with it. Your personal life would have to be serious red flags for it to matter.

Like I don't care if you spend your nights eating oreos in bed instead of side hustling. Good for you.

But if you're like a radical fighting fish enthusiast with a room dedicated to your vintage codpiece collection that's gonna be a no from me dawg.

That’s your elevator pitch buddy. Who you are, what you offer and what you’re looking for. I review “60 seconds and you’re hired” before interviews. Helps you plan for all those impossible interview qs.

Been at a “top 5” agency for 2 years now and haven’t produced a single piece of work that I feel is book worthy. Granted, there is the whole global pandemic thing. But at what point do you start looking for a new job? Is 2 years long enough to at least get some cred for the name on the resume, despite not making anything great?

Had an interview for an associate position at Citi. Interviewee was based in London and I’m in NYC. The only interview time that worked was 6am. I was barely functioning and feel like I truly messed up in my answers because I couldn’t not think clearly. I have another with the head of the division next week again at 6am (pre determined before this interview). It was also hard because the division’s core work is private enough that there was not much prep I could do beforehand. Tips?

Any suggestions for resume writing/updating services? I think I’m not getting call backs because my resume is too busy and unfocused
