Great question. I navigated this by talking to head engineer’s reporting manager. I waited too long and became very emotional in the call after months of this abuse - so don’t make the same mistake. Do it while you can maintain composure and objectivity and provide examples of situations.
Thank you! Sadly the head engineer’s supervisor is the supervisor of my entire department. Maybe I’ll just talk to my manager about this. I sort of broke down in a 1-on-1 last week because of the stress and frustration. He was very understanding of it
Definitely advocate for yourself, but make sure you do so in a way that is calm and professional. I know that's probably easier said than done, so you may need to practice a bit first, but trust me - keeping emotion out of it is the key to successful resolution. Good luck!
