Bain & Company Hello Fishers
I am looking to switch into the strategy consulting industry. I have been working in the tech domain for almost 3 yrs now. 2 years in NY and 1 currently in India. I have completed my masters degree from the US.I would like to pivot into strategy. Currently working for a boutique healthcare consulting firm within the analytics practice. Looking for referrals in McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group Kearney Oliver Wyman. Looking for guidance from the community.
I am a graduating student who just got offered 65k for a solution analyst role at Deloitte USDC (Data Engineering Focus). From reading previous posts it seems to be a lot of negative thoughts surrounding the USDC, but straight out of college is this a good opportunity?
I'm looking to gain as much experience as possible out of college in an IT role and wondering what exit opportunities may be in place a year or two down the road if there is little/slow progression.
Any Advice?

"thank you so much for taking the time to meet with me and always focusing on supporting my career goals. I know we planned for me to pass xx by now, and the CPAs are a priority for me. Unfortunately I recently ran into some mental health issues, so am at yy place instead. I'm still working through some things; thank you again for your support! I'm going to continue focusing on my mental health for now. Can we revisit this in 6 months?"
You don't need to give more information than you want to. You don't need to apologize, but you can thank them for their understanding. If you need any accommodations or work shifted off your plate, please tell them so they can help. I would NEVER want a staff or senior ashamed of not passing the CPA because they were taking care of themselves. There are a million CPAs, and only one you. Hang in there OP ❤️
There is nothing more important than your well being - period. Keep your head up and get help if you need it, and do not be ashamed of speaking with your manager about this. You should not be adversely impacted by this from other people.
I don't know that you even need to say you were struggling with mental health, unless you want to. Anyone who wasn't a freaking sociopath suffered mentally during pandemic/WFH, especially before vaccines came out. (I agree that you absolutely should not be adversely impacted, but too many people have this kind of thing held against them. But you know your manager, so use your judgment.)
You can just tell them "I didn't study as much as I should have for those sections - I underestimated how hard they'd be. But now I know better, and I know what I don't know, so I'm going to study even harder. Now I feel like I've got my head back in the game. I want to set a study schedule of 6-8am weekday mornings, practice MC for an hour or two at night after work, and try to get in 8-12 hours of studying every weekend."
For context, I have one section passed and just sat for another so waiting on a score release for that. I have failed both reg and far which I attempted when I was struggling mentally.
You could just say I've been dealing with some health issues that took up more of my time than anticipated.
Or you had some personal situations come up that took up more time and energy than you were expecting.
