I left and work at Apple now in the SDM group (we work with materials team who works with GSM team). I love it. So glad to be back to a normal schedule. Culture is great. Everyone is young and super nice. Only thing I miss about consulting is the points. I’ve heard most people exit Apple and go to Google. Hope that helps!
Supply Demand Management. I do worldwide forecasting and supply planning (think production plans) for iPhones. It’s expected to stay in your group for at least a year and then they are open to having you move to where you want to be. I really like my group. So happy I left consulting life. I actually have a life now and can workout and lost 15 lbs 🙌🏼
It’s a great place to work, except you’re condemned to use Apple products for the rest of your life, which is just slightly better than having to use Google Docs for productivity.
DD1 can you please elaborate. My biggest concerns are: a) what does this role prepare me for in the long term, i.e. exit opportunities, and 2) how clear is the career progression.
Well, Deloitte to Apple isn’t that considered an exit lol. Why think of exiting from an exit to another exit 🤠
My client’s head of procurement is from Apple and he is a dick. According to him, the culture was bad at Apple procurement. They had that mindset to be difficult to work with even with each other as they constantly have to beat up suppliers heavily.
P1 this is helpful. What is SDM? I have a final round this Friday and I lack any excitement for the role. How easy is it to transition to other roles within Apple?
Hey PwC1 I’m actually interviewing with Apple right now for two positions. Product manager and technical project manager. She asked me what I was looking for and I said 150-160 for base but also said that I’m flexible considering a big portion of compensation includes equity. She didn’t really say if that’s realistic or not so I’m kind of in the dark really. Glassdoor and other websites seem to have such huge variability that it’s really hard to estimate. She said the product manager role would probably be at the IC4 level. What do you think I can get? I have 5 yrs of consulting experience but also experience running my own e-commerce business for 2.5 yrs which is somewhat relevant to the role.
