How is the job market for FPA Managers? I transferred into finance 2 years ago and I’m having trouble getting interviews for an FPA Manager role. I’m a CPA with a Masters degree. I had about 5 years experience in accounting (2.5 public accounting) before I made the transition into Finance. Didn’t think it would be this difficult. Is it the covid economy or are Manager level jobs harder to get?

Never been in an SE or consulting or B2B sales role before but have a referral at Salesforce and have been in some informal conversations. Incoming AC at Bain, previously was deciding between Bain and McKinsey. But, ultimately chose Bain for the culture despite McKinsey being aligned with my professional goals of working in the government. I was looking on LinkedIn and didn’t find many people who are working in the White House after Bain, but found countless examples for McKinsey. Would it be difficult to try to transition to working in government after a few years at Bain? Any thoughts?

Should I stay at a company I know I like culture-wise when my manager said they will try to promote me, but with no guarantee. Or should I take a job offer I was given with a nice raise, but is in consulting at Slalom. I have not worked in consulting before. My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

I was called into HR because a coworker overheard a conversation between me and another colleague taking about cable/streaming shows that we watched or recorded.
