McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

I shared around 12 weeks but immediately felt an impact to my work opportunities. My boss pulled me from senior client meetings 6 months before my leave so that “the clients would notice less impact”. Wish I’d shared later.
I was almost 6 months in. I waited for my performance review first.
I'm at 18 weeks and will be telling my boss this week at 19 weeks. Announced to extended family and friends via holiday cards and wanted them to know first, then the holidays meant he was off for 2 weeks.
I haven't personally heard of anyone waiting much past 20 weeks, though you might want to, depending on your pregnancy, how long your leave would be and what's coming up at work. My work says we have to give 2 months notice, but if you're on long projects, in planning or your role will require backfill while you're out more notice is definitely better.
I waited until 22 weeks since no one could tell over zoom and I waited to finish all my anatomy scans ( I had to go 3 times because my baby wouldn’t budge). Not a fan of my boss though so didn’t really care to tell him any earlier.
Congratulations!!!🎉
I just told my HR manager (currently 19 wks) whom I’ve never met who lives in a different state. I sent her an email yesterday asking to discuss mat leave options and processes. Today we got on a zoom call, and I told her live I was expecting. She said HR will tell my mangers whom I’ve also never met live.
We told family over thanksgiving and on New Year’s Day, my husband wanted to share the news with his 600+ friends on the internet (insert eye roll). So I felt I needed to tell them before someone told my bosses they saw it online. Either way do it when you are ready. I’m so glad now I feel a little better!!
Whatever your comfortable with. I told my boss at 12 and 14 weeks for my boys
I waited until the end of my 2nd trimester. Just because my pregnancy was deemed high risk. If anything happened I wanted to keep a small circle
Of folks I in case I needed to share any bad news. I miscarried after an earlier pregnancy and I shared with the world. It was a horrible repeating the story time And again. So my timing may be a tad excessive.
I waited 16 weeks
Normally I would advise to wait until all anatomy scans have come back, you’ve had a chance to let your family know etc. (so like 18-20 weeks?). I was pregnant last year and ended up telling my boss/HR around 12 weeks right before we all “went home for 2 weeks” due to covid bc I was worried how things would pan out and wanted to make sure they knew in an effort to protect my job. Legally, no one wants to lay off a pregnant lady. My job knew before I even told my parents 😩
I told around 12 weeks but asked my boss not to share widely for a while.
Pre covid I told my boss at ten weeks because I was fucking dying and didn’t want them to think I had a a drug problem or something, but I didn’t tell HR and other people until around 21 weeks.
Not telling until my ultrasound
I’m 18 weeks and just told my manager
Shared at 20 weeks after the anatomy scan. 10 more weeks have passed with little to no movement on a coverage plan. 🤦🏼♀️
I’m 21 weeks and in the same boat. When I bring it up, crickets...
