It’s like going to Georgetown. Solid school and no question you’re smart and people are impressed — but it’s not Princeton.
Those jokes were funnier 3 years ago.
Honestly, there are so many of these kinds of questions.
Ultimately, when you’ve built experience in the MBB/B4 and even upper tier firms like OW, ACN, ZS, etc. the reality is only the purists will care and if someone does care, that’s their problem. To the rest of the population, any of these firms are marks of success, there’s no “bad” at this level. You’re really talking about running the 40 in 4.5 seconds, or 5 seconds; both are f’ing fast. Even Deloitte is an okay firm to list on a resume ;)
Worry less about “prestige” (something subjective, uncontrollable, and variable), and focus on building your network, the quality of your relationships, crushing your projects, and learning along the way... in whatever firm you make it into. Those factors will have much more impact on your exit opps.
Vanity is not a measure of success, and comparison is the thief of joy.

D1, it’s a bad analogy point blank. You saying you can’t run it is like someone saying they can’t read when comparing consulting firms... not applicable
Deloitte
Pwc
EY

Would you turn down Hogwarts if you only got into Hufflepuff?
KPMG is the hufflepuff of Big 4. Highly uncontroversial, unremarkable, laid back and harmless
Ain’t nothing like the D tho
That’s what I keep hearing.
We all dream of working for Deloitte but just couldn’t make it
EY is better
Probably drank it all
S& is more prestigious than anything the other big4 have. People need to get off the BigD, ya'll are basically Accenture at this point. S& is Tier2 worthy. Regular PwC advisory is garbage ofc.
A2 is mad he got recruited into Healthcare Ops and didn’t make the S& cut
I got job offers from EY, Deloitte and PwC and I choose PwC and I am happy with my choice even after 7.5 years
Same exact boat. I had offers from PwC, D, and EY (no call from KPMG) and never looked back
FWIW
PWC = Pretty Worthless Consulting
I see that I’ve riled up the worthless consultants with my reply
It’s a step down from Booz Allen.
it is better than deloitte and ey in my opinion - they are tougher competition
oh course a deloitte person would think that
Rising Star
Very prestigious for audit and tax
Chief
As prestigious as EY or Deloitte. Maybe a bit more than KPMG (at least for consulting), based on all the memes.
Jealousy, really, SM1
Totally depends on the competency.
If you want an honest answer for Europe... it’s pretty much bang on the money here if you’re good as an individual - obviously MBB has a slightly better ring to it but that’s it. So what does it mean practically?
It’s good enough to get you in front of and win any client or exit into any job or get into any MBA programme... as long as you are good.
Rising Star
I’d say like a 5
