Real talk - do you feel that you need to wear heels at work to be taken more seriously by everyone? Managers, partners, clients? I feel like the culture is for women to be in heels? New joiner.
New to fish bowl. I have been an insurance adjuster for 25 years. I work for State Auto Insurance. I have been with State Auto for a little over a year and to be honest it’s been the best insurance carrier I have worked for. They are hands off and let your claims experience run the claim process. The work culture is fantastic. Recently it was announced that Liberty Mutual would be acquiring State Auto. To say I’m a little disappointed is an understatement. Any thoughts from people that know LM?
Any American born Desis tired of being called "ABCD" from recently immigrated Desis? When I was in college, an ex-roommate and her friends constantly called me an "ABCD" where I had to prove that I was just as Desi with my family traditions, culture, visits to motherland, etc. Happened to me at work too. We shouldn't judge people by when their families immigrated to USA.
Just joined this bowl. Seeing a ton of “What is Agency X’s culture like...” posts. You don’t honestly think one is different than the other, do you? Please help me understand
Looking to break into the food tech industry in the bay area - has anyone worked for any empowering companies that they can speak for as having a truly strong company culture? Have worked as a program manager for the last two years at a sustainable food company, but the diversity, equity and inclusion, work-life balance, and level of respect are all oldschool and not ideal for queer, non-binary folx such as myself. THANK YOU in advance :)
How many other skills or studies you have beside the current which you are working on. Btw also how much world. do you do ( others languages, culture knowledge etc) I wonder which is our main source
Hey 🐠 Pls help me evaluate offers. Recently relocated to UK; 3.5 YOE; junior Consultant level. Offers from: 1. Capco - base=R54k 2. PA Consulting - base=R57k Other important factors are: *Culture - generally nice and humble people; employer cares about and supports employees (career growth, academic endeavours, personal issues, etc) *Type of work - exposure to traditional strategy-type work (noting neither of above are strategy-houses); with sufficient variety in type of projects/work (contd)…
Of the 3 MBB firms, how would you rank them 1-3 (1 being the worst, 3 being best) on the relentless nature of up or out culture? Like which place is the most cut throat work environment? Anyone much worse or much better than the pack?
Struggling to start calling my in laws “mummy” and “papa” after marriage. I used to talk to them a lot before getting married and used to call them aunty and uncle. They are now gently pushing me to call them mummy papa but I just can’t. What did y’all do to get into the habit? If you don’t call your in laws mummy/papa or similar things, how do you address them? Would it be okay to call time by their names and add “ji” at the end?
Hi All, I joined Deloitte a few months back. I have not been able to adjust to the work culture and stress and pressure of my work. There are literally days when I just feel lost, so much that I have slipped into depression. I don't enjoy my job at all and I'm seriously thinking of quitting without any backup. I am thinking of taking a break for 2-3 months and just focus on my mental health. How bad of an impact it will have on my career and how difficult it will be to find a new job again?
I just matched with a guy on a dating app and he asked me what my race is almost immediately. For context, I’m Indian American, light skinned and he was Indian American as well. I find that Indian men often ask me my race and when they find out I’m not half white but am fully indian they unmatch me, but no white man has ever asked me my race. It seems there’s a large group of Indian men on this app, can someone enlighten me as to WHY Indian men have such hang ups with race? TYIA
Hi, I’m a new hire at a big4. But the current team makes me feel I’m not needed and I am being left out several times in team events. I don’t take it personally but apparently the team culture doesn’t fit me quite well. I am already thinking about transferring to another team and that’s where my interest is anyways. My question is: when should I bring it up? After one year or after this upcoming busy season, or soon? Honestly this is hurting my mental health a Deloitte" class="linkified" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >bit.Deloitte PwC KPMG EY

Recruiter from ACN reached out for a client and market role. Seems like front end ops work. Can any provide any additional insight? Comp, project cases, culture & lifestyle, growth, etc...

Why Consulting Firms Are Wasting Millions Recruiting on “Top Tier” Campuses https://hbr.org/2015/10/firms-are-wasting-millions-recruiting-on-only-a-few-campuses
Choosing to be homeless for the next 3 months. Pad rented out to airbnber. Hopefully my project will keep me on for that time. I’m single, no kids and homeless. And loving it. #homelessconsultant
Kpmg people: my friend got an offer as a Business Process group associate in KTech. What is that and is it good?
Does anyone actually prefer a 2 wheel roller to the 4 wheel spinner? I don't get it but I still see consultants with 2 wheelers. I find it so much easier to walk the 4 wheeler alongside me.
How many days of PTO do you all actually take a year? I'd say I probably average around 8 days (not including holidays)
Anyone had any negative effects of rolling off early? (by your choice) Or is it best to just stick it out? (5months left)😖
The word "politics" seems to be used any time a business decision is a made that doesn't really make any business sense. What are the times you've heard the word used?
