Having been in this position previously I found it helpful to document the feedback prior and send ahead of time with an agenda. I would then ask them to come prepared with two action items they are going to implement for improvement.
Are you a hotel manager? If so, what department is the person managing and what metrics are they underperforming at?
Why you so sure he will be accusing you of being racist? What did your coaching entail?
Could your highest performing manager pair up with the underperforming manager to provide mentoring?
If the communication is done right, that’s often a great idea!
