I am a senior accountant with 8 years of experience. In the past 3 years, I have tried to transition to FP&A and thought I finally found a role that would let me. When I was hired, I had FP&A and GL duties. Unfortunately, since I started, the entire GL accounting team, aside from my manager, has quit or been fired. Now, all of my tasks are GL, AND my primary functions are more in line with a staff accountant (manager gatekeeps). How does one make the transition, if not internally?

I have been at my company for 3.5 years. One year ago (2.5 years into my employment with them) they re-leveled everyone and I was bumped to an entry level position on the terms that they changed my job title when they re-leveled, so “technically” I am at the early stages of my new title. Even though the job duties did not really change.
I’m not sure the best way to approach this. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know how I should advocate for myself?

There is an opportunity that I’m currently interviewing for that is very interesting to me. I’m interviewing two other places but I’m not responding to LinkedIn emails for other positions. The other positions don’t interest me as much.
