I am attending an event this Friday with a few coworkers and my boss. There is a good chance that my former employer will be there. I was terminated from my role in this last position and while we’ve started to re-establish a personal relationship; professionally, I never really got answers for their decision. I would like to say Hi if they are there and feel relatively comfortable doing so.

Has anyone been in a similar scenario? Any tips?

I think it’s fine to say hello but don’t recommend using this event to question decisions when you’ve already moved on. Whatever the reason is won’t change anything.

If it went nowhere then why you would want to even speak to the person who let you go. They let you go for a reason and if they weren’t willing to explain their reasons then leave it alone. I have nothing further to say to someone who would do me wrong like that.

I would not use a public setting to close this door while in what sounds like a professional setting with your peers and employer.

I’m literally so miserable in industry. I have been at it a few years and it’s boring. My boss likes to act like every minor issue is a 10 when it’s a 3 and creates emergencies where there aren’t any.

I am wanting to start the adoption process. I reached out to pathways to parenthood for information first from my personal email. I got a response within 30 min asking me to email them back from my work email. I did so and it has now been 3 days with no response. Is there any other way of contacting them?

I've been seeing a lot of ADCOLOR posts on linkedin, and some of the people who are liking and reposting it are some of the same people who were blatantly racist and rude to me when I worked with them. I wish there was something I could say/do about it, but it's literally making my blood boil seeing them like posts about "uplifting" and "supporting" BIPOC, only because I know that once they get off their screens and they're the meanest people

What advice will you give to yourself when you were a newbie in the professional life? Give the context too.
I’ll go first- I’ll tell myself to not overshare, especially to the manager. People will generally make an image of you and judge you on basis of that even if you have changed a lot.

DE&I is now a core leadership competency. If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks. Though some would say *that* itself is a perk.

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.
