I am having the same problem but my advice would be study up on essential information like blueprints and some terms and measurements and then start applying for jobs that need only high school degree they usually will train and are very understanding
you need to look up the local Ironworkers union close to you. they take apprentices, who they will put on jobs. You'll get some really good experience and see what is expected of a welder out at work. My advise is that welding is part of your job, not the entirety of it. I've seen tons of people talk themselves out of great jobs by not understanding the job as a whole only includes welding.
I'm looking for work I'm a combination welder and specialty welder and structural welder
Try local fab shops u can learn a lot in Fab shop that has a lot of fitters and Welders
