Eat dinner before going back your room, no food in the room.
Maybe go and talk to a therapist too. Can help you work through emotional state and identify causes.
Binge eating isn’t about being hungry in my experience, for me it’s about feeling empty. I try to find something else to fill that void like face timing my mom, journaling, running, whatever
Journaling helps a lot. Also intermittent fasting, I typically skip breakfast, eat a light lunch, and even if I eat garbage at night I stay reasonably on the right side of weight gain. Probably not super healthy, but it works to curb the weight gain from travel and disconnection.
Set goals, limits, start small
Eat less during the day. Choose healthier meals. Substitute where you can. For instance, I substitute potatoes that come with my dish for additional veggies. I don't eat the bread. Little things done consistently make a difference.
This was one of the hardest things for me to overcome in my life. You binge eat because you need to cope with something in life, then you feel bad you binge ate, and then you eat to escape the bad feeling of eating too much. Mindful meditation, exercising consistently, and having a diet that allows you to eat the things you enjoy in moderation. Consistency over 6 months will help greatly, you’ll rewire your brain.
Listen to podcasts about binge eating. Raising awareness helps
I’m so sorry. It happened to me too. Fight it. Don’t give up.
Snack throughout the day with healthy snacks. I used to do this when I got back to my hotel and I was starving so I would just order anything that sounded good
I went through this recently . I signed up at my local CrossFit and started with weekend classes. Additionally I found one near the hotel I stay and go there at least twice a week. It broke the pattern and got me to start eating healthier and feel lighter
Can you walk part of the way back to your hotel? If so, take the urge/edge by hitting the pavement. Doing this helps me pass4sane the next day at client
"I eat because I'm unhappy.. I'm unhappy because I eat.." - Fat B*****d; Austin Powers
I find binge eating is due to habit, not a reliance on food. Like any other negative habit, it can be tough to beat. Your best bet is to replace it with a different, more positive habit, like working out or drinking 8 vodka sodas
thank you everyone!! the support is overwhelming!.. i’ve started trying some of this advice, and realize that consistency is key.. also considering a therapist session .. but really real grateful for all the help and support .. indeed you’re a 🐠 fam!
Happens when stress levels are high in your work . Keep yourself full throughout by snacking on baby carrots and drink yoghurt based drinks throughout the day .
Load up on healthy snacks at the start of the week and keep them with you. I unabashedly bring snacks right into the client site for the team.
Eat smaller lunches, select health(ier) dinners, exercise. It’s the only way my (wo)man
Talk to your doctor. There may be underlying reasons why you are binge eating that need to be addressed. You may also have binge eating disorder.
Look into intermittent fasting. Helps with managing your appetite. Also focus on high fat, high protein foods that take longer to digest, I.e. make you feel full longer. Stop eating at 8pm. Drink water to feel fuller. Make sure you get your vitamins and minerals
All of this advice is solid. Try out one of them for a week of travel. If it works, great. If not, try another idea here. Either way, you’ve already taken the first step so good luck taking the second! Keep us posted and let us know if you need to meet up with someone in your client city
OP maybe the biggest take aways here are
You were heard
You are supported
😊 You got a cheer squad
