Dear all,
My friend is trying to get into her 1st full-time job. Previously she worked as a UI UX designer for multiple clients (freelance). But she couldn't manage to get an interview call. She is an excellent UI UX designer and an illustrator. If anyone has any options, kindly comment below, I will share her resume. She is a btech graduate with 2 year experience in ui ux designing/illustration field.

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?
Hi Guyz,
Any one from IBM ?
I went through the entire recruitment process and got selected for IBM ISL. Now I am being told by the HR that they are unable to release offer as there is a hiring freeze.
Can any one please tell me if its correct or just an excuse not to give me offer. If its true, when will this freeze be removed?

Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

According to many there is anew sheriff in town, with the pandemic a new group has emerged MT SAAS, which is Microsoft, Twilio, Salesforce, Amazon, Adobe and Shopify.
Working at Facebook sucks anyways.
What are Microsoft equivalent companies? Microsoft is up there on the FAANG ones. It's FAANG+ now.
More so from a comp front. Microsoft comp is like 30-50% under FAANG depending on grade. My current role pays Microsoft level comp so no point in moving over to that group of companies if that makes any sense
Send me LinkedIn I'll get you an interview.
I think FAANG seeking other FAANG is true to an extent. However, referrals tend to be a strong way in so it's curious to see that isn't working. Can you ask your referrals to get feedback on your behalf?
That's a good idea, let me ask them to reach out

Have you done something at your current role that translates to faang?
For the most part faang looks for people that have grown products similar to theirs at other companies.
You can also look for other companies like shopping, Netflix, Etsy, Nvidia, etc. They are great as well
Also don't make your life about faang....there are other great companies out there
Yes however one issue is I don't know if the scale translates. For example, my BU has revenue of ~1bn, which actually translates to 50%+ of the market, but that's kind of a rounding error to the FAANG type companies. It's easy to describe how I contributed to growing market share and going into adjacent products/markets, but unsure how it translates to the megacap companies. Also, as people who have worked in all different company sizes, complexity does not shrink as revenue shrinks, it's more a difference in the TAM size than anything
Try to find a way to directly get in touch with recruiters (through friends, fishbowl, …), if not to get you an interview at least to review your CV.
I tried the referral route and it didnt work for me, only once a recruiter scheduled me.
I think there is a bias toward F500 companies in FAANG. They do ten to cycle some of the same folks or startup equivalents. I'd say shoot for a startup first and then go for FAANG if you have 2-3 years to build that into your resume. Even on a part time basis or pro-bono.
not at all, lots of non tech, non-FAANGs are being hired all the time from these companies. folks I've been workign with went from mid-tier consulting --> facebook, Anheuser Busch --> Amazon. If I can be of help, reach out to me on Linkedin. https://www.linkedin.com/in/alanjstein/
plenty of ways in the door. just might not be the front door of the app submission. happy to share more deets of how i went from a F500 (American Express) to a FAANG (Google) after 5 unsuccesful attempts of going in the front door. hit me up on LinkedIn if I can be of help: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alanjstein/
