I currently work at a mid-tier firm as a manger but was promoted three months ago so no real manager experience. I have an offer from EY but they want me to come in as a senior III since I don’t really have manager experience, which is fair. I feel like this would be a good career move decision but always tough to take a step back. Is the move worth it to have that Big4 experience on my resume?

For those of you who got out at 10, do you wish that you rode it out to 20? I’m at a crossroad and I’m not sure what to do. Have some active/reserve time, wrapping up graduate school, and am now considering either a) come back to the business world or b) go active and retire before 50 and live off a nice pension. Obviously there are draws to both. I’m an officer for what it’s worth so I can realistically retire at O-5, MAYBE O-6.

1) stay in my company to quickly become BD Director and then exit (however my learning opportunities within my current company might be limited)
2) go do consulting for a few years

Does anyone have any insight into partners retiring early? I am at a point where I need to consider leaving if I am not aiming for partner. I don’t see myself working past my 40s.
