Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

I just joined a Publicis agency a few weeks ago, also working in pharma. It’s been a positive experience so far. My team is a great group of people. I understand how hard it is to leave a company you love; I was in the same position (and shed tears saying goodbye to my coworkers). But I wasn’t willing to pass up the compensation and the opportunity to grow in a higher position.
I had an awful time at a publicis agency, working in social/digital strategy but I would ABSOLUTELY go back for a 50k increase. Work a year or two, save a ton of money, and leave for a job you love. If you leave your current role on great terms, you could always go back eventually. 50k for me would be significant enough to make a major difference in my life.
Good for you. Do it and don’t look back
Personally I would, but only because 50k more would mean a lot to me. Will 50k and what you’re able to do with it (pay off loans, save more, put more into your home/rent a nicer place) make you happier? Also does the account and the team youll be working with sound good, or does it sound like you’ll be miserable there compared to where you are now? Then I’d be not so interested in moving. I think a good pros/cons list is needed sometimes so you can see the comparison on paper
That’s amazing, do it and if you don’t like it, move on in a year!
If the new opportunity paid exactly the same as your current job, would you take it? If not, don’t move. If yes, then go for it. It’s never a good idea to change jobs ONLY for money. If the move derails your career or leaves you feeling unhappy, the extra money won’t mean anything.
I cannot fathom turning down a $50,000 raise ... Here's the thing, I've learned that liking your team and your company has a lot to do with your expectations and attitude. If you're getting along with your old coworkers, chances are you'll get along with a new one. That's partially coming from someone who grew up in an underprivileged environment though...
If you are questioning $50k more then I don’t think you want to leave. As simple
As it sounds sit down and write out a pro and con list. The answer will be revealed.
I just went through something similar. I was offer $70k more at another spot, but I truly didn’t want to leave. I knew my current company couldn’t match, but I brought it to their attention. In my mind I made the decision to leave for the money. My current company matched up to $50k which for me was close enough to stay.
I don’t feel bad leaving $20k on the table. That’s because in the long run the relationship, time, and the work itself will make up for it eventually.
