You applied to a different title? Probably first screening with the recruiter you should bring it up.
I’m an experienced big 4 manager trying to apply for a senior manager position at a mid tier. I am going through a friend referral and am trying to figure out how to best clarify to the resource manager that I want to apply as a senior manager instead of as an experienced manager.
Before. Might as well not waste anyones time
Do you see a position open titled Senior Manager online? If yes, then you can ask the resource manager right away. If not, then stop and think if they are only interested in a Manager and already have a Senior Manager? There can be other things to this. In this case, disclose during the interviews firmly that you are looking for SM1. If they are impressed, worst would be getting an experienced manager role where the numbers won’t be that much different from SM1.
In that case, I would bring it up now starting with the resource manager so you have better interviews later. Interviews which matters the most are the ones with your team. If they agree, then you will get the title. Lead partner/HR etc are just formalities.
