Masters in tax is fine if you want to use it to get to 150. Doing it above 150 is a waste of time generally speaking and a CPA is much more valuable.

CPA is at least 20x more valuable imo
A degree is not the same as a license/actual credential.

I don't even know what MST is, so probably not

Ah gotcha. From what I've seen having a masters degree doesn't really help that much. It only helps if it's a step needed to become a CPA and then you actually get licensed
What the hell is MST
Master of Science in Taxation.
MST is great but the CPA will open many more doors for you. If you can do the MST program you can definite get through the CPA process.
MST is great for recent grads to get to 150 and network. Pointless for experienced people. Get the CPA
You are wasting your time and money. Literally just go for the CPA.
Hey
MST absolutely provides value but is only recognized and understood by people who also have an MST. As long as they keep paying absolutely get it. It will open opportunities in tax that would otherwise be closed off to you.
What opportunities are available? The ones that mention having an MST is required or desired.
Go for the CPA also. I had an EA, got MST, then got CPA. I met peers and professors in my MST program that were super helpful, and I’m sure my MST helped my get a job in M&A Tax.
There are lots of jobs with JD / MST requirement , depends on the type of tax practice
