Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase?Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Why not do both? Who knows, they might surprise you. A lot of jobs are hybrid anyway and if they can accommodate it, they should. And you might get some more money out of it.
If it's strictly EITHER/OR, pick WFH. Less money wasted on taxes and commute. Personally if you can push for a better pay offer and still go WFH, You can have some cake and eat it too🤔
Just keep in mind that WFH could be pulled or altered at any time, so if you couldn’t live on the salary with no hybrid arrangements I’d be hesitant to accept the role even if they agreed.

WFH absolutely counts as currency. Just be clear and specific. Two fixed days are easier for them to approve than something vague like flexibility.
