That’s a really tough spot to be in; you are not alone in this. If interviews are coming, it means you are close; now it is about finishing the last mile. Keep pushing forward and staying strong.
Yes. True that. I have to stay optimistic about it. It's just the negative thoughts keeps me on edge for like forever.
In 2024, I was impacted by a layoff. Around the same time, I faced a significant health challenge and spent the next 18 months recovering from CKD. Since January 2026, I’ve been steadily working on getting back on my feet and re-entering the job market.
This journey has forced me to reflect.
For nearly a decade, I stayed committed to one organization, believing that loyalty, consistency, and effort would translate into meaningful growth. But experiences like layoffs make you realize how unpredictable careers can be—sometimes feeling less like a structured path and more like a game where progress can be reset without warning or recognition.
Now, as I return to interviews after a 20-month gap, I often hear:
“You’re overqualified.”
“Your previous compensation is too high.”
“Your career gap could impact the role or company growth.”
It’s made me pause and ask:
Are setbacks beyond our control—like layoffs or health issues—seen as professional disadvantages?
Do they define our capability, or do they reflect our resilience?
Because if anything, this phase has strengthened my perspective, adaptability, and determination to contribute meaningfully.
I’m sharing this not just as my story, but as a broader thought for organizations and professionals alike:
"Talent is not just about uninterrupted timelines—it’s also about how individuals navigate and rise after disruptions."
I’m now actively exploring opportunities where experience, resilience, and a renewed mindset are valued.
If you’re open to connecting or know of roles where I could contribute, I’d be grateful to connect.

Setbacks are beyond our control.
Don't worry! If interview calls are coming, it means you will be hired very soon, just keep pushing..
