Awh this is so sweet! I have moved quite a bit so my chances for running into old students is a lot lower but the few times it has happened have meant so much to me. The bond of teacher and student really is so special. Grateful to all of the students who have remembered me and come up to say hello!

What was amazing, is that this student came from Knoxville to Greenwood IN, I'm more than happy to have spent some time with her
I had one who came to me after church (hadn’t seen him in approximately 10 years. He couldn’t wait to get to me to tell me that because of all I taught him in science he is now a doctor! That meant far beyond what anyone can imagine!!!!!

This is great. I guess we really are investing in the future!
I had one ask me to be her birthing coach. Such an honor!

Oh, for real! That would be a real heart-getter. That definitely shows the impact you have made.
I absolutely love getting together with former students who are now adults. I’m always surprised when they’re retelling events that happened in my class, things I would think would not be that meaningful, were very meaningful to them. You don’t always realize the impact you have on your students.

I agree 100%! But as much as some students tell us we have changed their lives, so many of them have impacted my life.
I have only been teaching for six years so most of my former students are still in high school or college. Not many are married with families yet, at least to my knowledge. I hope to have these warm experiences when I run into my students in the future and I am sure seeing adult students with kids of their will make me feel super old lol

It is happening more and more often that I'll be in town and former students will call out my name and have a conversation. I always tell them "Gee, you are making me get old!" They always smile and occasionally give me a big bear hug.
Definitely. That’s been my motivation at work and home for years.

So true. Knowing we can make a difference makes the tough days worth it
