I have a friend (USA) who really wants to be an art director, he’s a great designer but doesn’t know where to start. Ad school? Any cheaper/quicker yet reputable certificate programs? Create a killer spec portfolio and apply to some of those paid internship entry level type things? Any information or ideas you might have, please share!!

I freelanced for an agency as an art director for 6 months and recently got hired FT. I am struggling with imposter syndrome on a daily basis but manage to get great feedback from the creative directors continuously but still feel the same way. I was put on a creative brainstorm and my ideas seemed so misaligned with everyone else's but the designs I did the client liked and I think we are moving forward with.
