Last year, my first round interview with Mck for the BA role was over zoom and like you said, the cases are interviewer led - meaning that the interviewer will ask you a few pointed questions for you to answer throughout the case. If you are not super familiar with case interviews, I would start with case in point and Victor cheng’s LOMS series as these will give you a comprehensive overview of how to structure your approach to a case and communicate effectively with the interviewer. After that, I would focus on finding people who have experience giving/doing cases and go through a few live cases prior to the interviews (also when I went through the process, Mck gave me a BA buddy that I was able to practice a few cases with). With that said, for Mck, I would not underestimate the PEI portion of the interview as this is just as important as how you perform on the cases. Best of luck!
I probably did ~25-30 live cases prior to my interviews last year. This was a mix of casing with other people who were also going through consulting recruiting as well as mock cases with consultants across MBB. When prepping though, it’s important to highlight that it’s not about how many cases you do, but rather that those are quality life cases - meaning that you receive good feedback from the person who is interviewing you and that you review your notes from those cases to determine how you can improve in future cases. Hope this helps!
If you want LOMS material, I can send it to you. Dm me
Sorry I don’t have advice but a question—what level are you and how did you land these? Referrals? Online?
A lot of networking (luck) I can talk about it later, right now I need to focus on that... this is for a BA role btw
I also, am thinking of Buying Mangenent Consulted for the 1:1 (super expensive) 700 for 4 practice interviews with ex MBB. I don’t have friends that know how to do cases or recently done so any help is highly appreciated (I can pay) or maybe just recommendations
Not sure - I know he is on PrepLounge but if you just reach out to him there it isn’t as if you have to pay for PrepLounge or anything. He’s expensive though, a more inexpensive coach who is also REALLY good is Ian Glennon
FYI (this is for a BA role)
$700 for 4 cases is insane. Dm me I'll help you
Whats your prior experience?
Is this your mckinsey knwledge center role or mckinsey front end role?
DM me, I got something for you
They only gave you 1 week to prepare? I interviewed and they gave me 5 weeks at least. Honestly not sure if it can be done in a week. I used victor chengs website, IGotAnOffer and case in point
I would ask to reschedule. My recruiter was super fine with that
Hire a case coach. Worth the money if you really want the job!
Also my interview coach is going to help me with the PEIs too!
Dm me if you want practice cases / PEI toolkit!
