I have a medical procedure coming up. It will cost $8,800 out of pocket. I have about $25,000 in a HYSA earning ~ 4% interest. Do I just take it out of there and pay it in full?

I'm considering maybe applying for a 0% intro APR credit card and charging the full $8,800 on the card then paying it off in 12 months (roughly $735 per month). Is this a wise choice?

I don't have any other debts. My credit score is about 805.

most hospitals will offer a 0% interest payment plan over 12 months. I’d do that while your HSA continues to grow

like

Yes they do, via Care credit or Alphaeon. Never used either so hesitant.

The issue with the credit card idea is that I have to get a limit of at least $10k. I don't want to open multiple credit cards to get a high enough limit.

Other than that, are there any potential hurdles with taking on this debt?

Do you mean HSA or HYSA? If your employer insurance allows HSAs, you could pay for it using pre-tax dollars, rather than post-tax dollars. But maybe it is too late if your procedure is already scheduled.

I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea, but why not just pay for it if you have the money? Then rebuild your cash position using the $765/mo that you would have paid on the credit card

Same do a high reward credit card to pay it off it’s very valuable

Did a first interview with hr rep, went very well. she set up the hiring manager meeting for a few days later. Met with the manager. Another great conversation, went over time and was told I’d hear back about panel set up. Following day I get a request from hr rep to “continue the conversation” with manager. This is set up Tuesday.
Why do you think the manager wants to meet again? Good? Bad? I felt great about the interview when we ended.

Hi-I have 120K in cash in HYSA. After keeping emergency fund aside. Still have 75-80K available that I plan to invest. After 401k, HSA, IRA and monthly expenses: we are left with 6K every month. So investing 12K every month in market. My worry is with that rate - it will take us 12-14 months to move the extra 75-80K mentioned above. However do not want to make a bulk move. Any advise how to plan the switch. At present have 60K invested in stocks. Thanks

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

We have $300k in non-retirement funds, $260k of which will go towards acquiring the house. We have 2 kids and will probably reduce (not maxing) retirement accounts next 18 months to do this. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.
