I have a one year old. I'm based out of Columbus.,Ohio. Want to give the best of education for my kid. For whatever reason, I believe private school education is better. (Contd..)

Where shud I move? NY? Chicago? Any dad out there whose kids go to private school? Worth it?

Not all private schools are equal, do your research. Google, top school listing articles, ask around (e.g. Facebook, forums, etc.)

Egads. There are private schools everywhere. There are great private schools all over. Going to a major metro area like those will get you both good and great schools for Harvard prices. Start with what kind of education is important to you - creative and arts-driven? Heavy math and science? Hard core academics? Well rounded and athletic? Then start talking to parents, reading up etc. I’m biased but I cannot believe the pressure-cooker-from-kindergarten mentality of NYC schools can be good for kids

Does it matter? Trump is going to get us all nuked. You need to do apocalypse survival training. Zombie headshots are the most important thing.

First step, move out of Ohio. MN public schools are top notch

Niche is an interesting website for ranking schools. It’s not perfect but adds contrast to us news and such.

Upper Arlington, Dublin, New Albany. Private Schools are a scam lol. These public schools have a great reputation with Ivys and targets. If you still think private school is “better”, wellington schools or St Charles

I teach PreK in a public school. Our state allows PreK programs to nap without masks if proper ventilation is provided. I have 16 children, a minimum of 3 feet apart, no masks, with two LOUD air filters, two tiny windows open, the outside and hall door open, at average in 72-76 degrees. What is your childcare classroom doing for rest time?

I (36F) am married to another woman (34F) and we have a baby (5moF). We split all childcare, cleaning, meal prep, errands etc fairly evenly and it works well. Maybe she cooks more than I do bc she likes it, and I clean more bc I need to have a clean house. My friend (35F) recently took a business trip and literally put a binder together with instructions for her husband re: daycare drop off and pick up, what to feed the kids, when to take out the trash and so on. Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.

Hey ladies. I had a miscarriage July 2021 and my cycle started back up not long after. Then in January it just stopped. It’s been 3 months without my period and not sure what could be causing it (I’m not pregnant). My diet hasn’t changed and neither has my activity. I run marathons but I’ve been doing that for years now and it’s never impacted my period prior. I have an appointment to see my OB in a week but wondering if any of you experienced this.

I remember when I first started working on my thesis project. My adviser asked me to get some funding for it, but he didn't give me any advice about how to do that. He just told me that if I wanted money for my project, I'd have to go through some kind of committee process and submit an application for funding from them. Sure enough, after weeks of writing applications and waiting around for responses from the committee members (who were always too busy), I eventually got approved for funding!

Presume BMW X1 / Audi Q3 will be even smaller and not in contention? Xc60 is around £28k for 2017 version (~30-40k miles) and X1 / Q3 around £22k for 2018/19 versions (~30k miles). Any other car to consider? Wife adamant no MPV. XC90 would be ~£32k for 70-80k mile 2016 version.
