I have a second interview with a small to midsize firm this week. During the initial interview, they indicated they would be making their decision after the second interview. Would it be okay to ask about compensation/benefits during the second interview? Or would I be better to hold off? I’ll be meeting with two partners that I’ll be doing a lot of work for.

Also, any general second interview tips? Good questions to ask? Things to avoid?

I went through two rounds of interviews for
a job that the posting stated $36.66 per
hour (FP&A Analyst)…the company
recruiter had told me in the initial call the
pay could be 32-36 because of the other
benefits. If I do get a job offer what range
should I try for? I was really hoping to get
around the 36-40 but now I feel like they
may try to offer lower than what was
posted. Also there was no range but the
average for this position is upper 70s-90k.

Had an interview for an associate position at Citi. Interviewee was based in London and I’m in NYC. The only interview time that worked was 6am. I was barely functioning and feel like I truly messed up in my answers because I couldn’t not think clearly. I have another with the head of the division next week again at 6am (pre determined before this interview). It was also hard because the division’s core work is private enough that there was not much prep I could do beforehand. Tips?

48/M, average health. Few weeks ago I had a seizure out of the blue. First time ever, no family history. At the hospital given lots of tests: MRI, CT, EKG, EEG, blood/urine/COVID tests. Everything came back normal. Since hospital discharge I’ve seen cardiologist and wore halter monitor for a week. All good. I am looking to enter big law. I had a clerkship on a state Business Calendar and am a current first year litigation associate where I have prepared for a trial, taken and defended depositions, and have extensive motion writing practice in tech, business, and employment cases. Is it a waste of time to try and make a move to big law with such few years of experience?

I’m a special education parent attorney at a small firm and I’ve spent my legal career in the education and juvenile areas of the law working for 2 non-profits before ending up at the firm.
