It is very possible that you are over qualified for the positions and the employers are worried that you might move on too quickly or they might not be able to compensate you accordingly.
Maybe your next step should be towards an executive position for a large practice group or a hospital?
30 applications, 5 interviews & 8 rejections. Still keeping on 🤞🏻
How are things going were you able to get what you are looking for? I hate hearing about vets that struggle to find a position. I did 7 years in the army. And know how hard it is to make that transition. I would suggest you find someone at the VFW, or similar that can help you in bridging the gap from military to civilian life. Avoid the VA for help, their “help” will get you a low paying job to get you out of their office not what you are really looking for.
The biggest challenge will be getting past the civilian interview. They want to hear about how you will escalate concerns, how you will communicate at various levels, and how you will handle coworker/HR type issues.
In other words how do you keep the chain of command informed, what will you do when you have a disagreement between yourself and someone of the same or lower rank, (and your answer can’t be give them my orders and expect them to execute) you are going to have to live in a really uncomfortable world from the black and white military world everything will seem grey, and hard to navigate.
If you need help or need to connect let me know.
Good luck. Interviews can be a grind. How far along do you usually get before getting rejected ?
The last job I interviewed for I made it to the second interview. It was to be an administrative assistant to the president of the hospital. In the first round interview he was surprised I applied and said I was highly overqualified.

Curious how your latest interview went?

Sounds like a good strategy. You probably also have to overcome perception in some cases that military = rigid, regardless of validity.
If you’re getting past the first round of interviews, it sounds like they think you are over qualified. I would make sure to express that you are looking for longevity, and your experience is an asset, not something to fear. Be upfront with your expectations regarding growth; remember, the average tenure of a practice admin is not 20 years, so they may be afraid you’ll be dissatisfied and leave them in a bind to hire again.
Hello there! May I ask the company you’re interviewing for? I’ve been looking into different roles and see DaVita has been looking for practice managers/operations leads. The roles in Florida highly encourage a variety of different backgrounds to apply (even mentioning military experience). Having higher education doesn’t seem to be a barrier. Perhaps try them out if you haven’t done so already?
Congrats on paying off your home. The company is all over! Was just an idea!
