Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Please fill out this required field’ when all the fields are entered already (I have checked so many times, and filled the form from scratch several times too). Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I think it's important to be upfront about what happened—if you can frame it as a learning experience and show how you've grown since, that can make a difference. Consider getting a reference from someone else at PNC who can vouch for your work ethic. Additionally, networking within banking and leveraging connections can sometimes open doors that cold applications might not.
It’s unfortunate that you were terminated from your previous firm, and I hope you are in good spirits. I’ve heard that PNC is brutal when it comes to sales and service.
I’ve spent the vast majority of my career working in retail banking, in one capacity or another. Outside of you being terminated due to a violation of banking regulation, or if your licensed, violated an insurance or state regulatory/FINRA that needs to be reported on your U4, there is no reason that you would be rejected from another firm because of the termination. In fact, they do not have to know that you were terminated at all. The recruiters, market leadership, do not verify with your previous employer about your status. This is kept in a HR file, and is not to be discussed without a business need to know.
That being said, you could very well say something along the lines of, “I decided that my goals from a career aspect and my trajectory at PNC did not align.” and leave it there. Wells Fargo is always hiring, Chase, you could go to a smaller community bank.
There are options, I think that you not getting the roles is a mere coincidence and has nothing to do with your termination.
I wish you the best of luck’
Cheers!
If you are licensed you should check your U5 that it does not appear as terminated for cause. Go back to PNC if they need to amend the filing. Use FINRA Broker Check to look yourself up. Good luck.
One thing I have learned, that when it comes to verification, companies are only allowed to obtain, your most recent title, and length of employment There is a such thing as too much Information.
This may be a company policy but If they are licensed through FINRA, the termination reason is absolutely available for other firms to use in brokercheck.
Get a temp job until you find something permanent.
I was just recently let go from my 2 1/2 year role too. Looking at maybe giving banking & financial services a rest after being in the industry for about 6 years. Too many little things that show just how expendable the average employee really is. Hard time though trying to find anything better. Good luck on your search.
Reach Zions Bancorporation, they have banking positions open and some that are remote as well. Main offices in CA, CO, NV, TX, or UT, https://zionsbancorp.referrals.selectminds.com/ZionsBancorporationCareers
Also, downplay your termination, just indicate they made budget cuts and your dept was affected, large known banks have always had turnover.
Have you applied for JPMorganChase? They usually will hire seasoned bankers. Are you licensed? If so, did PNC report it to FINRA and does it show on your record?
How about you tell us what were you fired for and we will be the judges of whether it was necessary or not? Otherwise, I’d suggest you stay away from Corporates for now. Work for the government for a couple of years before making your way back to corporate
