Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

Your example doesn't seem like an issue at all. If someone sent me instructions at 7:00 at night expecting a deliverable first thing in the morning, they'd be sorely disappointed as I wouldn't even see the request.
Set a boundary on work hours. If he pushes or claims it'll impact your performance evals, escalate. If you get no support, go to another employer.
And he repeated same thing today. Sent a message at 5.52pm asking me to have something ready by tomorrow.
He doesn’t even add words like please with his messages. I thought that is part of basic training
Find somewhere else to volunteer then tell him that you don’t have bandwidth to help. And you can make up reason that the new work is more aligned with your aspirations.
This^^ easiest way out and no repercussions
Really sorry to hear! Try to make the best out of the situation and continue to work hard and be kind. Unfortunately it won’t be the last time that you’ll work with someone like that and you can learn a lot about how to manage people by being managed by someone with a poor attitude! Every rude comment and mistake he makes will reinforce how you will manage people differently than him. And if that doesn’t work, definitely find someone outside of work to trash talk this dude!
Don't do either, just wait and watch!
If you really like the company and the job then begin to document everything in order to present a strong case if hi escalate this to his boss. Also check on company policies about off-hour requests especially for a non managerial position. If you don’t care about the company then look for a new job. Unfortunately managers make or break a job experience.
