Same here. Its hard since I spend most of my time working. I feel like my white colleagues build their entire lives around their friendships with colleagues and that's just never happened for me.
This is how I feel! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! I just feel like there’s a better company out there for me but, I don’t want to base my whole job search on it.
Same, honestly. Following to see if anyone has advice.

Ooh and now I start a new job in a few weeks
I was never a fan of making real connections with people at work but my last company we had great comrade. Now, I barely know the people I work with and it feels weird but we all work in separate locations so the connections won’t be the same. I do miss having those daily conversations with my coworkers now.
I have just come to terms that the relationships I have with my white colleagues will not look like why they have with each other and I am okay with that as long as I feel comfortable and respected in my role.
I do try to open up but I really don’t like to get too close to co workers - just not my thing.
I feel this in my soul. SO sorry to hear that.
Same. Approaching a year at my current company and feeling the same. Following for advice
That's your fault.
Excuse yourself from this conversation. We are here to offer advice, not blame the ones seeking it.
It's probably the hardest part of the job. This along with the assumption you don't know. Even if there was another black colleague I think I would sway away due to the optics. This for me makes learning anything new a uphill battle where I have to take bits and pieces of what's heard home and learn on my own time. This is a stress that I honestly wasn't expecting As a hybrid worker, couldn't imagine going into the office everyday
