I’d rather quit than revise this agreement.

Microsoft CE salary for dc area?
Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).
I have two years of automotive/aerospace manufacturing experience and am looking for new opportunities. I recently applied to a Solution Engineer - Commercial Manufacturing, Automotive, Energy (MAE) role at Salesforce, and it sounds like a great fit. Is anyone willing to offer me a referral or advice on how to move forward in the hiring process? Salesforce

I personally advise against this approach.
Presales work is unique to the product you sell - which resonates down to the personas you deal with.
There is no holistic “top 3”. The only “top” choices are the ones that meet your criteria - compensation, culture, product, industry.
I’m guessing you might be coming from a different background, like consulting / finance / engineering. These fields do have the GOATs that you can shoot for. MBB, GS, FAANG.
You can make an argument, I suppose, that the best SE orgs are the ones who have ARR growth that outpaces the rest of the market but this is cyclical.
Here’s a clearer distinction:
MBB are, by market consensus, the top 3 strategy consulting firms. Their offering is strategy consulting. They hire Consultants to provide value, and these consultants are considered the best.
FAANG are, by market consensus, the best technology companies. Their offering are technology products that are cutting edge / most popular. They hire SWE to provide this value, and these SWE are generally considered the best.
Conversely, no company “sells” SEs. They sell a product. Every product needs to be sold differently. You need to think about what product / industry / market you want to sell into and find the “best” companies there if you are driven by that metric.

Is this just about money? About resume prestige?
Yes, just like you have prestige brands in tech or consulting, what are those for tech sales?
Setting yourself up for disappointment with this approach. You can work for the best company in the world but a terrible boss…
