Hi folks, I have 6.5yrs of experience in Java, Springboot, Microservices. Does anyone have any idea about Optum Global Solutions, Hyderabad. I was told that the Project which I will be assigned to is an IVR application responsible for middleware services and the shift will be from 2 pm-12 am. Any idea which project is it going to be and how is the work going to be? Do they expect us to extend beyond 12 am on a regular basis?

I feel i have already lost trust as a manager in the department. I doubt I can come back from it
So, common practice is to wait until 2nd trimester or later to tell work you’re pregnant, but if you’re actually struggling through symptoms that are effecting your performance, it behooves you to tell them earlier. I’d recommend you tell them now, so they understand why you are struggling and that this is not just lack of motivation/skill.
I had to do this last year - I had some serious complications around 6 weeks pregnant (which was suuuper early to tell them), and had to miss a lot of work and was in the hospital a couple days. (These symptoms were literally the first sign I was pregnant, before I even knew I was pregnant…). But once I told everyone what was going on, they were extremely supportive. Some deadlines had to be pushed back and I had to miss some meetings, but everyone understood why and it didn’t affect my performance because of it.
I just recommend communicating what’s going on so people can understand and support you, adjust as needed, and it doesn’t reflect poorly on you.
Yea - I’ve found that in the past with some managers who didn’t have kids. Luckily this time/situation everyone was supportive, whether or not they had kids.
But if you have specific medical symptoms in addition to the general negatives of first trimester, you should voice that as well. (Like I had a friend with such severe morning sickness that she had to have some medical interventions and was on medication, and had to tell work because she had to miss time. And she got doctors notes etc. Morning sickness sounds like something every woman gets when pregnant and you just have to push through, but some really do have severe versions that could be medical emergencies. Apparently one of the Brontë sisters actually died from morning sickness.)
Not sure what you’re experiencing specifically, but your body is going through a lot and you should give yourself a break and ask for support (which I know is hard sometimes).
Please take care of your mental and physical health now. The most important things are your health and the health of your baby. Don’t even worry about the job or your career. There will be time for that later. It’s important but not the most important thing in life. Your baby is and will be here in 6 months. Best wishes to you. Hang in there.
I’m sorry you’re going through this. Please do what you need to do to take care of your mental health. You and baby take priority
