The question isn’t the formal barriers but also the broader system. For example, will the public or police assume someone legally carrying a weapon is a danger — empirically, they are more likely to do so if the person is black.
For example, Tamir Rice was simultaneously claimed to appear much older than he was...but Ohio is an open carry state. So if he was openly carrying a weapon and appeared potentially old enough to own it, then what was the crime that warranted police intervention and ultimately deadly force?
Correct, it’s very obvious it is a toy. Which is why it promoted a 911 call in the first place.
The 911 caller stated that there was a guy, who could be a juvenile, pointing a gun at people. The caller also states the gun was “probably fake.”
The city suspended the 911 dispatcher for not relaying all the callers information to the responding police officers. The police were acting with partial information, when they approached recklessly.
After this "Walking Dog While Black" (WDWB) incident, all black folks should consider getting guns.

As long as they can pass the federal background check, they do have access. No need to change or do anything.
Selling requires a federal firearms dealer license. In most states that process starts with the local sheriff signing off on the request. Once you have the license, there is a stack of regulations to comply with as well as working with the distributor network to actually be able to buy inventory. Again, while I like the idea, it can quickly get complicated to implement.
You should check out black guns matter. They don’t advocate this specifically but promote gun rights, access, and training for minorities.
Cap is just trying to pretend local gun regulations are directly correlated to minority ownership. Just look at what Regan did in CA.
Reagan, the eternal boogeyman for liberals.
One of the reasons why there are so many guns in the US is majority's fear of minorities. The 2nd amendment BS is just a marketing gimmick. Pro gun fighter's bazooka or ar-## is not a match to tyrannical government's weapon machinery and tanks. If a study was ever conducted that showed per capita minorities have superior guns, I bet majority will go out and buy even better weaponry.
P1. As for tyrannical governments and what they can do, we need look no further than the current day in Venezuela. The government enacted gun control and confiscated civilian firearms. Now, those same civilians are being killed off by the police and military with no way to fight back.
Being armed might not allow the people to stage a successful revolt but it might give pause to the government trying to run them down in the street.
Just imagine how much a Red state will flip out if they see a Muslim man open carrying 😂
I only worry about open carry when the person is obviously nervous about it or is fidgeting with the weapon. But I've lived in areas with open carry and lots of visible firearms my entire life.
Why always is it one specific group or another? How about everyone gets a new pistol, and then on your 16th birthday to accommodate those under 16 when the law is passed as a go forward provision.
What was the purpose of this comment? Are you trying to start a dialogue or trying to trigger some folks in an effort to detect hypocrisy ?
I wanted to get different perspectives on the matter. Data shows minorities have a significantly rate of gun ownership. Meaning any benefit from less restricted access to firearms cannot be taken advantage of by minorities. And with today’s hostile environment they can definitely use protection.
Do any of you here actually own a gun? Have any of you actually shot a gun? Just curious.
I have a bunch. About $40k worth of firearms and things. A lot of NFA items.
