Welcome to Cobra

Dental and vision is usually day of. Health should be until the end of the month in which your employment ended. If your last day is the month's end, all benefits expire that day.
So what they're doing is unnecessarily cheap, petty, or a because they're a bunch of jerks.
Fortunately, unfortunately I'm leaving on my own so can't get cobra covered. It's $700+ and I'm not sure if that covers my (prescription) drug costs.
I just don't think that anyone should be put in this situation in the first place - leaving for a new job, fired, retiring or whatever. Jobs don't validate our lives for affordable medical care.
My last agency (left 2 years ago) did that too. My first couple of jobs it lasted through end of the month ☹️
I ended up just risking the ~2 weeks being uninsured. You can backdate Cobra.
This happened to me as well. Of course they took the same amount of money out of my check for healthcare. And this was during covid, too. The people who run our agencies hate us.
“The federal government will pay 100 percent of COBRA insurance premiums for eligible employees who lost their jobs and for their covered relatives through September, allowing them to stay on their company-sponsored health plan, under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that President Joe Biden signed into law on March 11.”
