I just made the switch from audit to FDD. I haven’t really gotten into the work yet, I’m still training, but I’m starting to fear I made the wrong choice. Is it possible to switch from FDD to other lines of advisory (like controllership) down the road? And if so, how long should I stay before making another move?

What makes you fear you made the wrong choice?

like

Your fine go do some work. FDD is well compensated and most exits pay less. You even opened new doors to investment banking and corp dev which is another world. Chill. If you don’t like it then quit, there are so many seniors lined up to transfer and can’t even join.

like

What's your current worry?

I knew I didn’t want to be in audit and I heard FDD was like audit but “more interesting”. But now I’m worried that it’s too similar to audit and I didn’t make a big enough change. It’s still too early to tell since I haven’t done any deals yet, but I think it’s just a general worry that I’ve jumped to another job that I’ll be miserable in.

Bro chill you haven’t even been on a deal yet…

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?
