Do you think the new posting will be what they say it is? I think you make lemonade out of lemons for a year and plan your next move. Unless they are having you do something unethical or illegal, stick it out for a year and you may end up with a role you like or find out what you really don’t want in your next role.

Agreed, plus … you’re ONE WEEK in. How do you even know you don’t like the job when it takes much longer than one week to get fully trained in any role.
Also, life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. If you’re going to be absolutely miserable then … ok make a move. But I’d suggest changing your mindset first and trying to see this as a stepping stone to get to where you want to go next and make the best of it.
This happened to me. I took it up with my supervisor at the time who was also one of the people I interviewed with. She apologized profusely and asked me to give it more time but offered no real resolution. the more time I gave it (2 more weeks) the more I realized it wasn’t for me and was not going to change. I went and reached back out to my old job and secured that before turning around and putting in a 1 week notice. My supervisor was understanding, but her bosses were rude and really disrespectful about it which honestly only made me feel better about leaving. It was not what I was told or signed up for, period.
I would take a look at the job posting and make note of all the things you feel like are different from what you were told, it’s always good to have something on paper to reference. Ask your sup if she has time to discuss, maybe on a Friday or a day less busy. Bring up your concerns and the differences from the position applied for. See if there’s any leeway in change or a way you can both find a solution. If there’s no solution and you feel like you’ll eventually have to look for something else don’t feel guilty about that either.
I could have sworn I was reading my own story. My total duration at that horror place was 2.5 months. I started in January and when I secured my old job back, I turned in a 2 day notice. Its not like me to give such short notice but I just couldn’t deal with that horrible place anymore. I have no intentions of ever working for cvs health again so I didn’t care that it was only a 2 day notice. My boss was upset with me I could tell. Her boss tried to get me to stay and even asked if I would do consultant work for them but it would be a conflict of interest if I did consulting on the side due to the nature of the work (working with government data). I tried believe me, I tried. I kept ignoring the red flags during my first month there but after my first month was up, I knew the role I was in was like a bait and switch bc during my interview, the boss failed to mention things like I’d be joining a brand newly created team and this single team is supporting way too many workstreams that are the equivalent of 4 teams at my prior place. F that. I was burned out after a short 1.5 months and knew I couldn’t keep working 24/7 and continued to stay connected to work through Teams and Outlook on my phone nights and weekends. It was awful. As soon as I secured my old job back, with a bump in pay, I left in March.
It’s likely that you would be unable to transfer internally a week into the job. My employer has a minimum six month in current role before being able to transfer. You’re a week into the role. I would give it some time. I’ve almost always had to make my roles what I wanted them to be. Maybe there’s an opportunity to expand the role to include more of what you like.
If they fire you for inquiring about the job. Then this is not the place. You should address your concerns and be honest on how you feel ❤️
You could always say you saw the posting and feel like it’s really aligned with your goals & request an opportunity to be considered for the position
I don’t have a solution for this specifically, but came to say you’re not alone. Last two jobs I’ve had, I was told I’d be hiring a team. Never happened in either instance. One was because of an reorg and the other was because of adverse market conditions. It stinks.

Does that mean you were left doing all the work yourself?
I worked for a company that they would do this on purpose and people quit after their first week. They wouldn’t let anyone move positions unless they had been with the company for at least 6 months making it difficult for anyone to move since almost everyone was pretty new. I understand that you think this other position is more in line with what you want but maybe this isn’t going to line up just like the job you have. Just something to think about if you end up trying to move.
Get out quick!
A week ago I would be honest and asses is the job description totally different from the job? You can elaborate on this when interested in the new role. Or does the new role seem more aligned. Usually it’s an intense & thorough interview process does that mean you didn’t ask the right questions to keep passing every interview stage? How can you trust the new job description since it appears the job vs description don’t align at this company? Again, these are the questions you will need to address when telling your boss about the new role. Also the 90 day review is for a reason. A week later make sure you’re not moving impulsively. To give balance I knew a week later the contract role wasn’t a good fit! 2 months later I was right.
I had this situation last year. Joined the project, in first 2-3 days realised I did a mistake, it was very far from expected (job content wise)
So I tried to convince myself to stay but then decided my mental health is more important and left in 2 weeks.
I communicated the reasons properly with superwisers but after discussions it was clear that even if they try to upgrade the job content, it still will be the same 80%.

You more than likely won’t be able to apply internally until after 12 months. This is standard policy for most big companies.
I don't think so. And there r always exemptions
