One too many years, when you tell them you found another job the promotion and upgraded salary will materialize magically.
Dude - be impatient
I went from SA to M to SM to Director in 4.5 years and trust me it wasn’t because I was patient.

Bowl Leader
This is the way. Document what they tell you is the path. Make sure to have frequent check ins and show your progress meeting those KPIs. End of each cycle be sure those are called out.
You need to own your career and not wait for anyone to hand anything to you. Be assertive.
How many years has it been?
What grade? Especially at junior levels, you should be moving up each grade within two to three years.
Your manager should provide clearer guidance for you regarding the promotion. If you are "on track" the next thing they should provide are timelines, key skills or accomplishments that they expect from you and, frankly, what the details of that promotion entail (such as additional stock options, salary increase, and attainable bonus amounts). I managed highly skilled consultants for years and always developed career plans with all of my direct reports. Normally, I would start off our review conversations with the question, "How much money would you like to be making this time next year?" It was my job to either develop the plan to help them attain their goals or reset their expectations during those meetings.
Have you assembled a promotion business case demonstrating how you are already performing at the next level? Have you networked with your leadership to ensure they are all aware that you are actively pursuing this? Have you confirmed the support of those who have direct supervision over your work? Have you confirmed that your leadership is speaking with your direct supervisor to understand your performance highlights? If all of these are true, keep doing what you’re doing and your promotion will come. If not, then these are the things that will get you the promotion over time.
