Great idea! As someone who has a difficult name to pronounce, please don’t hesitate to repeatedly ask us how it’s pronounced. I don’t mind at all
I had a client who called all non Caucasian people on our team the same name....
I had a grad school professor call all the black men in my class Dave - we had like only 4 African American men in my class...
Excuse me, it's Anais like mayonnaise!
Tongue in cheek, but a lot of names have multiple pronunciations.
I think the most important part is putting in an honest effort to get it right. Some people just struggle or don't even realize they are pronouncing the name wrong.
Many times I can't tell the gender of Indian first names, so I've become a they/them pronouns guy when on boarding a new offshore team member. Its a good habit to develop so I guess that's a happy side effect.

"Saorise, like inertia" is the phrase that the actress uses. I like to use internal mental rhymes like that to remember them.
not trying to be ignorant but what kind of name is saoirse and why is it not pronounced at all like it’s spelled?

The entire point of this thread is that nobody knows all of the correct pronunciations, and creating a global cheat sheet of more common names in different countries may be effective...
Heaven help you if you ever go to a European country that's not England, or even Wales. Iceland was an interesting one.

As an ESL... I have no idea how read the way you spelled the pronunciation 😅
But efforts like this are encouraging.
One that stands out to me is Indian names that end in A.
Like Rama, usually the A is not pronounced.
Indian names are challenging for me. I can never tell which syllable to stress and it seems like native English speakers pronounce it differently and I don’t hear them get corrected.

I’ve got an engineer that can’t pronounce the client’s name correctly.
There are American names we can’t pronounce either. As an example, consider the newest addition to the Musk clan.
I once had a boss (white, 60 ish American) who in a meeting did the following to a young kid on my team (~25ish)
Senth...
Senthu...
I can’t get your name right. Don’t you have something easier?
He: At Starbucks I tell the barista I’m Steve.
Ok, Steve then.
His name was/is Senthuran. He completely deflated.
One of the worst manager moments in my life.
This story breaks my heart.
