Say you’re an Assurance Senior 3 and want to transfer soon as you hit Manager back to your hometown office. Should you secure the manager promotion at your current office first or go ahead and initiate the transfer at S3? I’m scared that they won’t accept me over their current S3s and so I think the safer bet is to make manager first then transfer. Deloitte EY PwC
Also, how desperate are firms for Managers these days? I know seniors and staff are in demand but I rarely hear about Managers.

For PwC fishes who left recently, how did you consolidate wealth builder into 401k within benefits express to avoid the 20% federal tax withholding that was described in the benefits package? I tried to do this online but it didn’t show as an option except to rollover to an existing IRA or take a final distribution. Do I need to call benefits express?
Can folks from PwC share how exactly your all remote model works? So, an employee opting for remote works with any team across time zones ? Or across states in same time zone? Also, how do you staff on / find a project? Are there people working totally with teams outside their office, as say nobody or few in their own group/ office opted for remote model? Would that be true?

What I did was the following. Talked to my coach to ensure a smooth transition. Scheduled a call with the managing partner and disclosed my intentions to leave and gave my 2 week notice.
While it sucks for the team remember it was the firm that is ultimately responsible for keeping the engagements staffed. There is also a great possibility you will be let go on the spot if you are jumping to a competitor, but firms honor the 2 weeks normally. Best of luck!!

It’s becoming more common so not sure if it will burn bridges. Firms have no shame in firing you during the beginning of the pandemic and then begging you to come back. That bridge was “burned” but it didn’t stop them from trying to “cross it” and I bet some people came back and rebuilt that bridge. Just do what’s best for you and be courteous if you can/care for the remaining team.
If you are going to industry, then just go. If you are going to another PA, I would be targeting every single one of your new coworkers right after season in retaliation. :). It’s an unwritten rule amongst firms to not be trying to recruit during this time. Right now there is a lot of desperation though in the market.
There’s probably more of it then I realize. The team that I have works here because they like it, not because they couldn’t make more some place else. Everybody is willing to pay more it just depends upon what BS you want to deal with it. I’m in Texas and there is more work than there are people right now. So I’m sure my team is getting blown up.

Folks are pretty understanding of this if you make yourself available to ease the transition and generally remain professional during your last 2 weeks.
Had this happen several times recently on our team and the only person who was viewed negatively was the one who only offered to work 1 of his 2 last weeks and essentially told other team members to get lost when being asked to perform basic tasks. Don’t be like this guy and you’ll be good.
