I left Big 4 as an audit manager, is it possible for me to go back to public accounting and come in as a senior manager or is that an unrealistic expectation? I’ve been gone for less than 2 years.

Agree with BDO1 and BDO2. The other factor mid market firms will consider is how many years of audit manager experience you have before leaving PA.

likesmart

I’d say it’s a possibility but would need a partner backing you coming back.

like

Depends on how you can leverage your new experience. Also, might be more doable at mid market firms.

like

You could absolutely leverage your experience from after you've left PA until now to become a SM.

Also depends how long you were a manager for. If you were newly promoted to manager and left after a month likely not. But I’d you left as an experienced manager that combined with your current experience it should be reasonable to come back as a senior manager.

I left after a year of being a manager, so I went through a busy season.

I think you can. In fact, I’ve heard of people doing this. We love “boomerangs” as you have now obtained some sort of industry experience that has hopefully given you perspective and learnings that you can bring back to the engagement teams. If you’d like to apply for KPMG, please DM me. We need more SMs!

Why do you want to go back? What is your current role?

Boredom, lack of challenge and growth in my current role.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Hi All!
This is my first post in Fishbowl, I'm looking for some genuine guidance on below query.

I have a total of 8.1 yrs of development experience in Java, Bigdata and Hadoop (new to it).
I got an offer from Capgemini for Manager/C2 designation with a CTC of 24 LPA. I just wanted to know the roles and responsibilities at this designation.
Will it be a profile shift from technical to managerial position or is just a designation (as per HR) the actual job would be to lead/guide any team?
Thanks

I am looking for a new job at the end of a long career. I have excellent experience in IP and Supply Chain Management. I've been fortunate to be in a high-paying position in the Los Angeles area and I rarely see comparable positions posted. The comparable positions at my company are filled by one of the big executive search firms. Any recommendations for finding the rare executive-level legal positions or for landing on the radar of the big executive search firms would be much appreciated!

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

Additional Posts in Audit Bowl

So my VP at my previous company felt bad and refused to speak to me or attend my farewell after my resignation. His reason was that I somehow betrayed his trust as he had promoted me just last year (after keeping the position open for 4 months and letting me take additional work load after the previous SM left!). Does this make any sense? I mean where does this sense of entitlement or ownership over the employees come from? No wonder the company in question is kind of facing a literal exodus!
