I also moved from Chicago to LA - I live in West Hollywood. It's clean with a good energetic buzz, but I would not describe it as "city". LA is a collection of differently flavored suburbs, some more lively than others. If you're looking for more of a downtown/city vibe, unsure LA would satiate that for you. West Loop has that industrial chic vibe, whereas here it's going to be more bright bungalow. Both lovely but in different ways. I will say I think I'd move back to Chicago now that it's hitting the 60s and 70s in February! There's no place like it. But LA has been a great experience for me.
I do agree with you that after living in SoFlo for almost a year, I feel the same way about Chicago. It’s a great place, and maybe one day in the future I’ll go back.
Yeah, from these conversations and my research I get the same vibe about LA. Not sure how much I would like it which is why I decided to just go and get that vibe for myself and that way, I will be certain of my decision.
I moved from Chicago to LA 3 years ago. DM if you want to chat.
Ohhh, good to know. Thanks!

Moved from Chicago
Moved from Chicago to LA 8 years ago. It's just different. Depends what you are looking for in a city. What kind of lifestyle / work situation are you looking for?
Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of that. It really helps to know the details as I I feel like I would like a place similar to the vibe of what you say about Silver Lake.
I’m not really looking to walk from neighborhood to neighborhood as I think that’s difficult to do in any big city and I do have a car, but at least I would like a neighborhood that’s walkable.
Well, I just booked a trip to Boston and then LA 2 weeks after that one so may the best city win 😝🙌.
Thank you all for the help. I’ll come back to this soon enough to announce the winner lol.

Me too, I’m hoping to be able to move back to Chicago. I miss the city vibes from my River North neighborhood lol
