No degree can get you high package.......
Just like all escorts doesn't get paid well....same is the scenario with IT people....
The ones who are in demand will be paid good.

Some startups are paying over 55 LPA to MBA guys (product manager role or something similar)
.
Some do pay it but then they only pay for candidates from IIMs. Many fintech in Hyd pays it but they clearly write they need only IIT & IIM candidates. Dream 11 in mumbai definitely pays it but again the bar is also set high bar by them.
You're from a T1 B School, you should know MBB K Dalberg, pay a Fixed of 35 and bonus and variable of 8-10 LPA to freshers . ProdMan companies are paying 35+ at campuses. And I won't even talk about IB, PE and VC roles.
So, to answer your questions obviously in IT there has been a great demand and people are getting payed for their skillsets. But a T1 MBA still has its value in niche fields with the best roles in Business.
what I see now, 60 people from my batch of 250 are in amazon, many are in flipkart. I know these 2 pay well. rest are in Big 4, accenture. few are in MBB. I never targetted MBB, as I dont like their rigorous work and lack of free time. I am in SCM, where the pay is lesser than IB, PE or TPM roles.
I agree with the previous comments. Direct placements from institutions like IIM, ISB are paid comparatively higher than people who are joining through some job portal/placement centre/direct application etc. IT industry is doing better now in terms of compensation. The pay that you are expecting, might be possible if you have multiple skills. Plus experience in the industry matters and also negotiation skills. If you have dual skills that is both IT and management, then it is all the better for you. Don’t leave IT i would say.
cant generalise IIMs unless u say the top 6,7 IIMs. as now there are I guess 20 IIMs. new IIMs placements are at best average and cant be compared with ABC. I regularly work with IIM folks. I am a passout of non IIM b school.
I am 3 YOE post MBA (Tier 1) at 30+ fixed + variable in one of the B4. So, I would say folks with 6+ YOE post tier 1 MBA would definitely be making 40+ fixed. Ofcourse there are outliers everywhere. Some might be making 50+ as well after 6+ YOE. Outliers concept is true with IF folks as well, not all IF folks must be making 40+ post 6YOE.
wow, 3 yrs post MBA and u are already 30 plus. thats good. I guess in last 3,4 yrs, the base package at campus placement increased a lot. good for you. I dont know in my batch if people are making 40+ (except amazon, accenture strategy or some startup). recently a friend joined google, he got 32 fixed, he has 9 yrs exp, new IIM grad. But he got lot of RSUs.
