I left Deloitte and now have the option to keep the 401k as-is or roll over to IRA. What are the pros and cons for the 2 options? What would you do?

Roth, traditional, mix? Main benefit or IRA is lower fees and flexibility to invest in basically whatever you want instead of a selection of mutual funds. Drawback of traditional IRA is it screws up backdoor Roth IRA by making it partially taxable.

I think most would leave it there short term but eventually you'll probably want it out.

Thank you!

I left Deloitte a year ago but left my 401k with vanguard because (1) I like vanguard (2) I rolled my pension when I left into a vanguard IRA and (3) I started a brokerage account with vanguard since they waived their trading fees and I like their index funds.

My new employer has Charles Schwab which I’m not as crazy about so once I leave this company I think I’ll roll it into my vanguard 401k.

I think it all depends on your personal preference

Thank you!

Hi!

I recently did a job interview and I made it clear to the HR my expectation salary is 60k a year, non negotiable.
Today I got the job offer and they are offering me 54k. My current company is making me 50k with tons of benefits which is why I am asking for 60k.

Should I accept the offer or renegotiate?

Hi All. I moved to a new company , I just got my take home salary and my current pay is less that previous pay ,because of different state and other taxes. My new company is better but the pay is demotivating me . It is almost $500 less per biweekly pay check . What to do get out of the demotivation? I wouldn't have minded the same pay , but $1000 less /month is a lot !

I’m in an interesting dilemma. Very interested in leaving my company, but I am also going through IVF. I know most new jobs require a year wait before you can go on maternity leave. Does anyone know a great company to work for that does not require this? Obviously, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself, but if this works, I don’t want to accept a job and not be paid for maternity leave because I am doing this solo. Appreciate all the help!

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

I've heard from multiple people about how inflated the assets are and high the P/E ratio is, hence not a good time to invest in the market. Long term investors, how do you deal with this argument? P.s. I understand the time in the market>time the market.

$530k HHI, $250k cash on hand, $1.2M investments/retirement. Plan to buy $800-900k house as our first home, but thinking of the best approach given rates today. My thinking is that we (i) put $200k+ down and get a 5/1 ARM. (ii) put everything we save moving forward toward paying down the principal (after maximizing retirement accounts). Should be able to do $100k per year. (iii) If rates go down below 4.5ish % for 15 year fixed, refinance and stop aggressive payment. Thoughts on this approach?

I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. Inputs appreciated.
